4.20 HCSA & SSFC Update

Dear Parents & Athletes,                                                                                April 20, 2020

Here are the current updates from High Country Soccer, Summit Strikers FC (SSFC) and Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) after the latest Summit County Public Health, Summit School District and state of Colorado updates from Governor Polis that have happened in the previous six days.

First and foremost, we are canceling our Spring Recreational League, Advanced Development Program, SSFC Academy and Tot Soccer programs for the spring (everything that was due to happen in April & May) and transferring all registrations to our equivalent FALL programs. Next, we have extended the postponement of our Summit Strikers FC (SSFC) club season –training sessions & games –  for all 10 teams through May 31st. We are currently awaiting more information from Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) if they will be continuing to postpone the spring season and move the league to the summer months or come to another determination.

We will begin transferring all current registrations of Spring Recreational League, Advanced Development Program, SSFC Academy and Tot Soccer registrations by the end of the week. You will receive an email that your registration has been transferred when your registration transfer has been completed. If your child is aging out of his or her current program, we will automatically transfer your registration to the next progressive program (i.e., from SSFC Academy and Intermediate Rec League to a SSFC competitive team payment). The alternative to a transfer of registration to fall programming will be for High Country Soccer to issue a coupon code good through May 31, 2021 for the same dollar amount paid that can be used towards any High Country Soccer program (excludes external soccer camps: Challenger International Soccer Camps and Rocky Mountain Soccer Camps).

Please recognize that none of these decisions is easy, made lightly or finalized without input from various intelligent sources. Our paramount priority is placed on the safety and health of our community in our current decision-making process.  We believe we have an important responsibility to care for our community, and we will continue to focus on health and security. We will remain vigilant regarding this evolving situation, will adapt our practices as appropriate, and will continue to keep you updated. We continue to follow strict precautions and the recommendations of those with far more knowledge about the pandemic and spread of this disease than we do without their input. At this time, due to the current health and state guidelines, we know that the Breckenridge Recreation Department, Silverthorne Recreation Department and Summit School District cannot/will not support independent rentals until after May 31st.  Some are not even accepting reservations currently even if the reservation is for after that date.

In the meantime as the snow melts, High Country Soccer has purchased an app called “TopYa” that has over 100 skills videos and challenges for all our 180+ SSFC athletes, Summit High School soccer players and our registered Spring Rec Intermediate, SSFC Academy & Blue Square athletes who were registered for Spring 2020 prior to cancelation. If you did not receive the information in early April, please reach out and we will resend you the information – at no cost to our families to keep your kids playing soccer and active!

As we continue to wait on further guidance from CSA, our SSFC spring season beyond our May 31st postponement continues to be unknown. Should SSFC leagues be canceled or abbreviated, we will carry payments over from Spring 2020 registration fees already paid to SSFC to Fall 2020 team payments. We also intend to work with other local clubs if state health and safety measures allow for us to play “friendlies” or games in the summer months. While we do not know the exact structure of potential play options or these payment transfers yet, please know that High Country Soccer/SSFC understands the numerous burdens and challenges of this situation beyond financial, and we are carefully weighing all these facets with health and safety precautions when we make any decisions. We intend to help in any and every way that we can as we all navigate these challenging times.

We anticipate that resuming play for our SSFC teams will remain a fluid and on-going situation. As of today CSA has not placed a date on if/when they will cancel Centennial League games. At this current juncture, no internal or external summer camps have been canceled.

As always, please reach out to [email protected] with any questions or concerns. We will do our best to provide you with any answers we can in this unknown and challenging time for us all.

Sincerely,

High Country Soccer Board of Directors
