Summit Strikers F.C. Fall 2017 Recap

We had an exciting fall 2017 Summit Strikers F.C. season.  We knew with the tryouts that were held in May that we would have more teams and players participating than ever before.  We had nine teams this fall ranging from U11 through U19 age groups, for the first time having teams in the U11 age group on both the boys and girls side. Teams participated in the Colorado Soccer Association Centennial bronze division; except our U13 Boys Blue team who played in the Elite division.   Thanks to the dedication and efforts by players and coaches all teams showed improvement throughout the season.

The first weekend of October all teams participated in the Vail Valley Cup, which had over 100 teams entered, including teams from out of state.  It was a great weekend, with teams challenging themselves against strong competition.  The U11 Boys won the championship of the Silver division in the tournament, defeating Crestmoor of Denver 6-2 in the final.

Our Academy program has grown as well, going from 21 players last fall to 33 kids this fall.  The Academy program gives players in the intermediate league extra skills training by licensed coaches as well as jamboree days with area soccer clubs.  This Fall we hosted a jamboree day in Frisco, as well as traveling to the Vail Valley and Aspen on two other Sundays for jamborees.

It’s great to see our competitive programs continue to grow, with a focus on fun while developing soccer abilities.  This Fall between the Summit Strikers travel teams and the Academy program we had over 160 Summit County youth participating in Summit Strikers FC programming.

Thank you to the players, parents, coaches and referees for making the fall season a success.  Thank you also to AXIS physical therapy and Copper Mtn. Resort for supporting Summit Strikers F.C.
